Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), is seeking a Technical Staff Member to provide technical, analytical and programmatic support to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Commercial Remote Sensing Regulatory Affairs Office (CRSRA) located in Silver Spring, MD. CRSRA is responsible for the licensing and regulatory oversight of U.S. companies and non-governmental entities that own and operate space-based remote sensing satellites for commercial and other purposes.

 

Key Functions

  • Daily contact with middle and senior level government officials in the CRSRA Office, as well as interactions with contractor personnel.
  • Support all aspect of CRSRA’s daily operations including licensing, compliance and decision support as well as formal agency responses to Congressional requests.
  • Independently manage the activities of the NOAA Federal Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing (ACCRES) related to space law, regulation and policy.
  • Primary work location is Silver Spring, Maryland.
  • Domestic and international travel is required.

Qualifications

 

Required

  • B.S. or B.A. with minimum G.P.A. of 3.5/4.0
  • Basic understanding of principles and senor types used for space-based earth remote sensing
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience including internships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform independent analyses, and prepare and present well-written technical reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an inter-agency environment
  • Ability to effectively serve in the trusted agent FFRDC role in support of the Government in a program office environment
  • Experience in project management as evidenced by experience and relevant credentials
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

 

Preferred

  • B.S. in engineering, mathematics or physical science
  • Minimum 2 years of direct experience with remote sensing regulation and licensing
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in space systems engineering and remote sensing with knowledge of instruments and phenomenology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of National Security Space systems, architectures and capabilities
  • Knowledge of remote sensing licensing and export control policy issues involving the defense, intelligence, diplomatic and commercial sectors is desired.
  • The ability to work across multiple technology and policy disciplines with a variety of U.S. Government stakeholders
