Responsibilities

The Human Exploration and Spaceflight Division will provide direct support to the Commercial Crew Program certification teams in the evaluation and refinement of commercial provider products at NASA/Kennedy Space Center.

Key Functions

  •  Provide engineering and analytical support to customers in the area of systems engineering
  • Coordinate NASA approved directives with providers
  • Facilitate the deployment or implementation of existing NASA tools and frameworks with government certification team
  • Understand customer problems and issues and turn them into tasks that can be supported by Aerospace capabilities at large
  • Contribute to the planning, organizing, coordinating, and presenting presentations for certification milestones and programmatic reviews (FTRR, DCR, HRCP, ASAP, GAO, etc.)
  • Identify new capabilities and enhancements to current capabilities that will better support the customer
  • Initiate studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions
  • Provide ongoing technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors
  • Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action
  • Lead cross-organizational teams and organize interfaces with NASA customer and/or crew transportation service provider
  • Act as organization's designated representative at technical meetings, presentations, and symposia
  • Occasional travel may be required

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics or engineering
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
  • Communicate with diverse technical teams
  • Demonstrated participation of broad, multidisciplinary teams involving system design, acquisition and/or operations in one or more of the following areas: spacecraft systems, ground systems, launch systems, mission operations and systems engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to change, and demonstrate initiative under pressure
  • Demonstrated use of MS SharePoint, Power Point, Excel and Word

 

Preferred

  • Prior experience with portfolio management tools and processes
  • Strong knowledge of systems-of-systems (SoS) engineering, architecting, and integration including development and use of literature, tools, and processes
  • Prior experience with related aerospace architecting and design capabilities (CDC, PDST, various performance, cost, and risk analysis tools, etc.)
  • Prior experience in systems engineering concepts, methods and processes related to certification of aerospace hardware and software through detailed requirements definition, verification and validation leading to design certification and operational flight readiness.
