Responsibilities

Aerospace’s Cyber Defense Solutions Department (CDSD) is looking for a mid-level Section Manager to lead and grow a team of engineers who design, implement and deploy cyber solutions to defend our nation’s space enterprise. We support a variety of customers including the Space Missile Center (SMC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and other civil customers (e.g. NASA), and they all face incredible challenges in protecting their ground networks and satellites systems from sophisticated adversaries. The section manager will provide technical management and leadership in the areas of cyber pen-testing (both ground and space), prototype development, and trusted computing to help strengthen our customers’ security posture as they migrate from legacy stove-piped systems to highly resilient, distributed systems utilizing latest technology such as cloud and SmallSats.  

 

Key Functions

  • Work with department director and other managers as needed in all aspects of developing and managing the organization.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead staff to create cutting edge prototypes in the fields of ground and spacecraft cyber security.
  • Manage engineers working in the areas of trusted computing, applications and network security, data protection and infrastructure privacy, cryptography or automated software analysis.
  • Interface with the program office customers in task scoping, budget and project management.
  • Extensive interaction via technical working groups, briefings, and personal contact with other engineers, program office personnel, contractors, and government personnel.
  • Lead project teams in the proposal, design and execution of research and development tasks both internal and external to the department
  • Ensure the technical qualify of deliverables (reports, software, services, etc.) to customers.
  • While this is a management position, the selected candidate is expected to get involved on a diverse set of technical projects. It is very important to be hands-on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Security, or other technical area of study
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience in management and/or cyber security
  • GPEN certification required
  • Proficient with multiple programming languages and at least 3 years of hands-on cyber pen-testing experience
  • Experience in the following areas: software assurance, penetration testing, red/blue team exercise, defense cyber ops, DevSecOps, and cloud security
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, mentor junior staff, lead technical efforts, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizations.
  • Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
  • Currently hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance issued by the U.S. government

 

 

Preferred:

  • Current TS/SCI level clearance with CI poly
  • Advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Cybersecurity
  • Experience with Agile methodology and team collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
