Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Windows Site Reliability Engineer. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

 

The ideal candidate will enjoy the design and deployment of emerging automation, configuration and site reliability practices that removes manual steps in deploying, upgrading, and scaling systems and software. Wherever possible, this position will automate and configure as code.  The candidate will become part of the Enterprise Computing Infrastructure Department, which designs and maintains enterprise Windows and Linux servers and storage infrastructure for the Aerospace Corporation.

 

Key Functions

 

  • Assist with the overall health, performance and capacity of critical enterprise level systems
  • Gain deep knowledge of existing and future complex enterprise service offerings
  • Assist in roll-out and deployment of new product features to facilitate our rapid iteration and continued growth.
  • Develop and build tools to improve our ability to rapidly deploy and effectively monitor our large-scale Windows infrastructure environment.
  • Desgin and Implement automation processes, and tools, to improve service operability and reduce Mean Time to Repair

 

This position is available as an Aerospace Corporation Staff III or IV.

Qualifications

Required

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Active Directory and Group Policy (4 Years)
  • Strong PowerShell scripting ability (3 Years)
  • Working knowledge of server virtualization with VMWare (3 Years)
  • Experience automating repetitive tasks with scripting or applications
  • Experience with automation of virtual system provisioning, orchestration and configuration management
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, PowerShell DSC or SCCM (2 years min)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must work well in a team environment
  • Must possess strong organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need
  • Effective interpersonal skills to coordinate efforts and work with other internal and external organizations

  • Proven experience as a Windows System Engineer

 

Preferred

 

  • Familiarity with software development cycle
  • Experience and knowledge of DevOps
  • SCI Clearance
  • Data science/analysis fundamentals
  • Six or more years relevant experience

 

Qualifications Staff IV

 

Required

 

  • The Staff III Basic Qualifications from above
  • Demonstrated experience as a team lead 
  • Recognized subject matter expert in automation and windows system infrastructure
  • Recognized subject matter expert in provisioning and configuration management

 

Preferred

 

  • Extensive experience with virtual system provisioning, orchestration and configuration management (4 Years+)
  • Extensive experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, PowerShell DSC or SCCM (2 Years+)
  • VMWare Certifications: VCP6-DCV, or VCAP6 Design/Deploy
  • Microsoft Certifications: MCSE
  • Ten or more years relevant experience
