Responsibilities

Working in a busy, deadline-driven environment, responsible for preparing technical documentation and other content for publication. Provides technical editing and formatting of reports and journal publications. Checks documents for spelling, grammar and content problems, apply or corrects formatting and layout. Ensures that documents follow the organization's and other style guides.

 

 

Key Functions 

  • Edits, writes/rewrites, and proofreads technical and CorpComm copy (including but not limited to text, tables, graphs, and mathematical equations) to ensure consistency and compliance with the requestor, security, contractual, and corporate requirements
  • Formats and updates copy using templates and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe products
  • Organizes, coordinates, and maintains status on development, preparation, approval, and publication of reports
  • Consults with technical and corporate staff and serves as liaison to coordinate required resources including editorial, graphics, photography, and reproduction
  • Prepares cost estimate and project work orders

 

 

 

This position is available as Technical Editing Specialist III or Technical Editing Specialist  IV

Qualifications

 

Required for Technical Editing Specialist III 

  • Minimum associate degree and 5 years of directly applicable experience 
  • Experience in Microsoft Word's advanced features and Adobe Acrobat Pro 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated mastery of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Must know how to use scanners, edit digital artwork
  • This position requires a secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. A US citizenship is required.

 

Required for Technical Editing Specialist IV 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • Ten (10) or more years of directly applicable experience 
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Word's advanced features and Adobe Acrobat Pro 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated mastery of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Must know how to use scanners, edit digital artwork 
  • This position requires a secret clearance or the ability to obtain one. A US citizenship is required.

 

Preferred 

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud 
  • Must be extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Must possess strong organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of aeronautics, space science, math, and physics
  • Customer service oriented
  • Work well in a team environment as well as work independently
