Responsibilities

Mission integration in Launch Systems Division will serve as the primary interface between launch vehicle (Atlas V, Falcon, and New Entrants) and spacecraft Program Offices and respective contractors for SMC and NRO spacecraft.  Mission Integration supports day of launch activities from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base California.  The selected candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with program office, engineering, customers and contractor personnel. The successful candidate will join a team of highly skilled professionals that are making innovative advancements.  

 

Key Functions

  • Develop, flow down and verify launch service requirements, and ensure LV hardware and launch services successfully fulfill mission requirements. 
  • Work with launch vehicle (Atlas V, Falcon 9, and New Entrant) programs and launch site teams to ensure launch systems meet all mission requirements. 
  • Manage and track mission verification activities leading up to day of launch. 
  • Develop and incorporate mission integration requirements and strategy into program planning for future launch service acquisitions. 
  • Form and lead teams that work across functional organizations. 
  • Establish effective working relationships with spacecraft programs and launch vehicle and space vehicle contractors. 
  • Work effectively with customer personnel at all levels. 
  • Evaluate contractor proposals. 
  • Mentor junior Air Force officers and help them develop into effective program managers. 
  • Prepare and present mission readiness briefings at major readiness reviews.

Qualifications

Required 

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or Science 
  • 12 or more years of related technical experience that includes leadership experience 
  • Experience in a variety of technical disciplines associated with spacecraft and launch vehicles (examples include: system engineering, mission integration, propulsion, avionics, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and effectively resolve complex issues in a timely manner, and to simultaneously work multiple issues
  • Ability to balance technical details and broader programmatic issues
  • Strong initiative, good communications skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal relations are essential
  • Strong mission focus and good organization skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced program office
  • Top Secret Clearance with current SSBI and ability to obtain SCI access 

 

Preferred 

  • MS in Engineering or Science degree
  • Multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environment experience 
  • Current TS/SCI clearance
