Responsibilities

The Systems Integration and Test Office (SITO) offer a diverse range of capabilities that enable and support the effective implementation of technical and programmatic mission assurance activities on satellite, launch vehicle, and the associated ground equipment and facilities.  SITO staff support all program phases beginning with pre-contract assistance with concepts of operation, integration planning and system test planning, design and development activities followed by build, integration, verification, and transition to operations events.  SITO is the Engineering Technology Group source of expertise in systems integration - including technology insertion, and system engineering aspects applied to develop operationally realistic tests.

 

The Space Systems Test and Evaluation Engineer serve as a system verification, test and evaluation (T&E) subject matter expert for all aspects of DOD T&E for space systems.  Space systems include space vehicles, ground systems, launch vehicles, and user systems, up to and including enterprise levels.

 

Key Functions

  • Provide direct T&E support to programs in all phases of the acquisition life cycle through the transition to operations.
  • Provide assistance with T&E related strategy, processes, and artifacts, tailoring of applicable standards, and other acquisition support to new programs or major updates to existing programs.
  • Establish verifiable requirements for space systems, and ensure the appropriate use of test as a verification and validation technique for programs during the requirements definition phase.  
  • Provide assistance with high-level and detailed test planning, test architecture, test design, test execution, test and data evaluation, anomaly and deficiency, resolution, and residual risk assessment for operationally realistic and system performance testing.  
  • Provide assistance with detailed test planning, including the requirements for engineering models, simulations, test beds, and special test equipment for all organizations involved with system testing.
  • Ensure design for testability during the design phase.
  • Create and update internal Aerospace command media, including the Mission Assurance Baseline.
  • Provide input to updates of T&E regulations standards, and guidelines.  
  • Provide T&E training and tutorials for internal Aerospace staff and for technical workshops.
  • Provide T&E mentoring to SITO personnel.
  • Assist customer in developing T&E guidance and command media for SMC programs.
  • Assist customer with multi-organization T&E forums.
  • Assist customer with T&E training.
  • Oversee the development of T&E related tracking tools.

 

**This position is available as an Engineering Specialist (L2) or Senior Engineering Specialist (L3)**

Qualifications

Required 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or mathematics.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Minimum 8 years experience with multiple aspects of space systems verification, test, and evaluation.  
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with Aerospace peers, internal and external customers, and contractor representatives.   
  • Must be technically persuasive with strong written and verbal skills.  
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to clearly define technical tasks, form and lead technical teams, establish priorities and motivate outstanding performance. 

 

Preferred 

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science or mathematics.
  • Experience with new technology development testing, technical aspects of test, testbed development, and DT/OT/ops transitions.   
  • Experience with space/launch system testing space/ground system, or space/user equipment testing.
  • Current and active TS/SCI clearance.

 

Qualifications for Sr. Engineering Specialist

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or mathematics.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Minimum 12 years experience with multiple aspects of space systems verification, test, and evaluation.  
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with Aerospace peers, internal and external customers, and contractor representatives.   
  • Must be technically persuasive with strong written and verbal skills.  
  • Must have the ability to clearly define technical tasks, form and lead technical teams, establish priorities and motivate outstanding performance. 

 

Preferred 

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science or mathematics.
  • Experience with new technology development testing, technical aspects of test, testbed development, and DT/OT/ops transitions.   
  • Experience with space/launch system testing space/ground system, or space/user equipment testing.
  • Mission domain knowledge, e.g. electro-optical, ground, etc.
  • Publication of applicable command media, training material, and/or technical papers.  
  • Current and active TS/SCI
