The Aerospace Corporation is seeking Space Systems Cost and Schedule Undergraduate Intern for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at in El Segundo, CA. 


The qualified candidate will become part of the Integrated Cost and Schedule Analysis (iCASA) Department. iCASA resides in the Systems Engineering Division and conducts the cross-program analysis of cost, schedule, and risk in support of acquisition tasks for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Agencies, and Civil and Commercial customers.

Key Functions:

  • Research and analyze cost, schedule, and technical data; collaborate with senior staff to develop tools and  enhance models and methods
  • Participate in engineering and architectural trade studies; utilize iCASA- developed tools to derive total life-cycle cost and schedule estimates for space, launch, and ground missions
  • Assist senior staff with space, launch, and ground system schedule risk assessments (SRAs); learn iCASA‘s SRA process which entails building a schedule, developing risk distributions, performing Monte Carlo analysis, and identify/quantify program risks
  • Develop clear and concise written reports, presentations, and concisely articulate material to management and peers
  • Ability to apply standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks
  • Training and mentorship will be provided

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Science, or related program
  • Sophomore or higher level class standing with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, independently, and in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • US Citizenship required



  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Knowledge of systems engineering, cost estimation, and analysis, cost modeling
  • Familiarity with VBA programming or one or more programming languages: MATLAB, Python, C, C++ or JAVA
  • Familiarity with MS Project
