Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Software Process Engineering Graduate Intern for an internship opportunity. This position will be located at El Segundo, California.

 

The qualified candidate will become part of the System Software Quality and Analysis Department, where you will develop tools and conduct studies that support software engineering for mission-critical space systems, notably satellite ground control networks and vehicle flight software.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Support research and development with software systems and processes ranging from embedded systems all the way to cloud computing
  • Model, simulate and analyze modern software engineering processes, including Agile and DevOps
  • Develop software infrastructure to support dataset management and automated testing
  • Work side by side with Software Systems Engineering Department Engineers
  • Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
  • Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree completed and currently enrolled at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related program
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • US Citizenship required
  • Experience with more than one of the following programming languages, C/C++, Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) and work in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Familiarity with agile software development practices
  • Familiarity with software measurement practices
  • Familiarity with software security issues
  • Familiarity with software static analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively define goals and track progress on tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to apply initiative and creativity to solve problems
