Responsibilities

Contingency Operations, part of the Control Systems Subdivision within the Navigation Division, is responsible for assisting the Air Force with the development of contingency capabilities for the Global Positioning System (GPS) Control Segment.  Specifically, Contingency Operations provides technical and programmatic leadership in acquiring GPS III Contingency Operations (COps) and M-Code Early Use (MCEU) capabilities.  We are seeking a GPS Control Segment Software Test Engineer with solid interpersonal skills, and demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills to provide proactive support with several responsibilities.

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

 

  • Work as part of a government technical team that includes Aerospace, government, an SE&I contractor, SETA contractors, other FFRDC and the development contractor.
  • Observe contractor component level integration, formal qualification and system level tests
  • Develop innovative approaches for remote monitoring of software tests
  • Lead requirements verification and validation assessments and working groups
  • Support assessments of contractor test plans and procedures and review of final reports.
  • Develop innovative approaches for requirements verification and validation.
  • Support software testing phases up to and including FQT and system test.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 12 years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience
  • Demonstrated successful experience with translating system requirements into verification and validation approaches
  • Demonstrated successful experience with testing high reliability enterprise and/or space system software
  • Demonstrated successful experience with preparing software test plans, procedures and reports for space systems
  • Ability to prepare and present technical data clearly and concisely
  • Ability to travel frequently (at least twice a month) and occasionally support extended work hours
  • Must have a secret clearance 

 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrated experience with testing in agile software development environments
  • Prior program office experience
  • Strong systems engineering experience
