Responsibilities

This position is to provide mission assurance and engineering oversight for two related activities within the Space Warfighting Construct.  First, provide technical support for the Ground Segment enhancement of the Geosynchronous Space Situational Awareness Program (GSSAP).  This includes leading Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) engineers to support GSSAP ground segment evolution and acquisition activities.  Second, support integration activities between the SILENTBARKER program and associated Data Integration and Exploitation (DI&E) architecture development.  In both roles, inform Air Force customer decisions and keep corporate and customer management informed of activities.  Support mission assurance activities and corporate reviews.
 
This position can be filled as a Level 2 or Level 3: GSSAP Ground Segment Lead
 
 Key Functions
•Systems engineering and technical support for GSSAP ground segment acquisition, development, deployment, and sustainment.
•Support development of integrated architecture for future DI&E of space situational awareness systems, including the SILENTBARKER program.
•Work directly with government customers and contractors to provide technical leadership for ground requirements, design, test, interfaces, and risk management.
•Application of mission assurance standards and risk assessment processes in support of risk mitigation activities using best practices, analysis methods and associated tools.
•Travel ~25% of the time 

Qualifications

Required for Level 2: Ground Segment Systems Engineer
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of technical experience that includes experience in design, development, deployment and sustainment of Department of Defense or National systems OR other related experience
  • Ground segment development and sustainment experience
  • Experience working adaptively in multiple tasks in a small, diverse team, in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing relations and expectations with external organizations and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel ~25% of the time is required
  • Current Top Secret SCI clearance with SSBI
 
Required for Level 3: Sr. Ground Segment Systems Engineer
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • 12 or more years of technical experience that includes experience in design, development, deployment and sustainment of Department of Defense or National systems OR other related experience
  • Ground segment development and sustainment experience
  • Experience working adaptively in multiple tasks in a small, diverse team, in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing relations and expectations with external organizations and stakeholders
  • Ability to travel ~25% of the time is required
  • Current Top Secret SCI clearance with SSBI
 
Preferred
  • Advanced technical degree
  • Application of mission assurance to achieve project objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify technical and programmatic risks, strategically plan for their mitigation, and lead teams to successful resolution
  • Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and interact effectively with the Air Force, SETAs, other FFRDCs, and contractor personnel
  • Familiarity with System Administration / Network Architecture and Database administration
  • Familiarity with the SSD counterspace activities
  • Possess clear oral and written communication acumen, as well as strong interpersonal relationship skills
