Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is an independent research and consulting organization that helps U.S. agencies achieve great outcomes in space and other technology areas.  Since information is our deliverable it's critical for our employees to be able to find relevant information easily.   We are seeking an experienced IT professional with experience with application administration, integration, and customer service who can administer and evolve our enterprise search system.  This role will actively collaborate and communicate with stakeholders, end users, and fellow engineers.   As part of this role you will: 

 

Be the primary application administrator and evangelist for Aerospace's enterprise search solution, LucidWorks Fusion, maintaining, improving, and integrating the software.  This role will collaborate with other engineers to integrate data repositories and to leverage enterprise search for their IT solutions.  LucidWorks Fusion is based on Solr and has numerous configuration options and extensions.  This role is expected to analyze these options against search requirements and implement and communicate relevant ones.  Some programming will be required to enhance the search user interface, based on AppStudio (aka TwigKit).  This role will become the subject matter expert for enterprise search at Aerospace.

 

Key Functions

  • Maintain and extend LucidWorks Fusion for enterprise search.
  • Maintain and develop the enterprise search user interface using AppStudio.  Assist other engineers with developing AppStudio user interfaces for their point solutions.
  • Explore and implement advanced LucidWorks Fusion search options for signals processing and machine learning leveraging the underlying Spark software.  Assist other engineers to leverage these capabilities for their search collections.
  • Collaborate with data owners and end users to determine and document search requirements.  Conduct technical reviews to validate findings.  
  • Evaluate and document alternative approaches and techniques to address requirements.  Develop, test, and implement solutions.
  • Identify and integrate corporate data sources to extend enterprise search.  Identify and map metadata to corporate standards for faceted search results.
  • Analyze search metrics to improve the enterprise search solution. 
  • Communicate and promote the enterprise search service and capabilities to end users, including end user training.
  • Administer the enterprise search application, including installing and configuring software, maintaining and upgrading software, troubleshooting issues, and integrating search with other IT services. 
  • Act as the primary Aerospace technical contact with the vendor, LucidWorks, for technical support.
  • Manage ITIL processes related to enterprise search including ticket, request, change, demand, and knowledge management. 

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 or more years of programming experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a computer science-related field 
  • Experience in modern software development processes, lifecycles, and supporting tools
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects.
  • Experience documenting requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance 

 

 

 

Preferred

  • Masters in a computer science-related field or other advanced degrees
  • Experience administering software applications
  • Experience with implementing or administering search technologies such as Google Search Appliance, Solr, Elasticsearch, LucidWorks Fusion
  • User interface development experience using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, jQuery, or similar tools. 
  • Experience with ServiceNow for ITIL processes 
  • Experience with agile methodologies and tools such as Scrum and Jira. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 tools (Exchange, SharePoint, Skype)
