Responsibilities

You will partner with the Government to ensure Mission Success of the Air Force Remote Sensing Systems Directorate (RS) to develop, acquire and deploy SBIRS GEO-5/6 and Next Generation OPIR space assets that that will bring increased performance and resilence to the nation's critical OPIR Missile Warning (MW) mission.  As Next Gen Block 0 space vehicle resiliency lead, your primary responsibilities will be supporting the CONOPS, requirements, design, integation and verificaiton of space vehicle resilence activities across the space vehicles.  You will be part of a critical USAF Next Gen OPIR pacesetter program and will help formulate the path foward for rapid aquisition of USAF/SMC programs.

 

Key Functions

  • Work as part of integrated contractor and government teams that include the USAF customers, contractors, SETA, and SE&I to support:
    • Resiliency design trades for Next Gen GEO space vehicles  
    • Participate in Resiliency requirement flow-down, derivation/allocation, and traceability analysis
    • Verify and validate design feasibility and requirement compliance of Next Gen OPIR resilency capabilities
    • Participate in engineering and design review, manufacturing review, test readiness review, test exit review, material review board, failure review board, and other technical and status reviews
    • Resiliency subsystem and spacecraft test monitoring and data reviews
  • Build partnerships and coordinate expert support with the Engineering and Technology Group
  • Support Government decision making process by suppling sound and coordinated technical information
  • Monitor, assess and report progress on Resiliency capability development and test
  • Monitor, assess and report progress NG-GEO/Polar contractor design status and process
  • Support cost, schedule and technical risk assessments

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline
  • 8 or more years of experience that includes aerospace industry experience, preferably in space systems
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, contractors, other FFRDC and SETA personnel
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to speak and present technical status materials to leadership and customers
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with ability to obtain SAP
  • Some travel is required

 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in system engineering is preferred
  • Experience in coordinating projects and conducting risk management in a rapid acquisition environment
  • Active SAP clearance
