Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical and programmatic support to the Space Superiority Systems Directorate for Space-Based Space Surveillance (SBSS) programs. Principal responsibility will be for source selection and post contract award system development efforts to procure an SBSS Follow-On system, with emphases on the ground segment.  In addition, providing technical support for the operational SBSS Block 10 system will be required.

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Write technical portions of the acquisition package for the SBSS Follow-On Ground Segment consistent with the Aerospace Mission Assurance Baseline. 
  • Ensure interfaces between the space segment, the ground segment and Enterprise Ground Services are well defined, meet requirements and have been properly implemented. 
  • Review offerors proposals and score them against selection criteria. 
  • Coordinate ETG staff to provide systems engineering studies and other technical products in support of system development, proposed Block 10 enhancements and Block 10 anomaly resolution. 
  • Assist in the planning and budgeting of ETG support staff to assure Aerospace resources are applied effectively to the program. 
  • Ensure that program office and ETG staff are effectively teamed to work closely with our customer, contractors, SETA personnel and other FFRDCs.  Strong emphasis will be placed on delivering high quality technical products in a timely manner through the use of matrix resources.  
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Developing program requirements; preparing acquisition documentation; reviewing cost, budget and schedule information; performing risk assessments; and providing technical evaluations of contract deliverables.
    • Preparing timely products to include briefing packages, weekly and monthly status reports and TORs.
    • Ensuring professional integrity is maintained and that efforts are consistent with Aerospace mission assurance objectives.
  • Moderate travel will be required.


 

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science with 8 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify and assess risk areas and to work closely with ETG and program office peers, customer, and contractor personnel to resolve issues quickly
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a strong initiative
  • A current (less than 41/2 years old) SSBI/SBI and Top Secret clearance

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An advanced degree in engineering, mathematics or science desired
  • Ground systems development experience (both hardware and software) is desired
  • Experience with systems engineering, integration, testing and fielding of ground systems is desired
  • Demonstrated organizational and project leadership skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
