Responsibilities

The Principal Director will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Software Engineering Subdivision in the Information Systems and Cyber Division.  The subdivision has more than 100 staff and managers responsible for software risk assessment and evaluation, software architecting and engineering, software system development support, software processes / process improvement, acquisition, and research. It is composed of five departments, with staff located in El Segundo, CA and Chantilly, VA.  The Principal Director could reside in either of these locations.

 

Key Functions

  • Providing technical leadership of the matrix team supporting various customers through the application of local and geographically dispersed technical resources.
  • Directing and participating in technical projects of importance to the Corporation and in activities that advance the Corporation’s imperitives, initiatives and goals.  
  • Hiring, budgeting, development and communication of technical objectives for the subdivision; prioritization of technical effort; assuring the quality and timeliness of all technical products and contractual deliverables; staffing and personnel actions; budgetary and staff allocations and assuring adherence to all applicable security and safety procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelors degree (advanced degree desired) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
  • Experience performing and leading software acquisition and software engineering work in progressively more responsible positions
  • Demonstrated experience with ground and space mission assurance activities – software acquisition, architecture, system engineering, test, and operations and the complexities associated with acquiring large complex systems with significant legacy dependencies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills are required, as is a proven and demonstrated effective working relationship with Customer, Corporate, and Contractor personnel. 
  • Demonstrated technical breadth
  • Management experience
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent personal technical reputation and record of substantial personal technical achievement
  • Current and active SSBI security clearance

 

Preferred

  • Experience in lifecycle models, process and process/quality, NSS mission data processing, TT&C, operating systems, software and system simulation and analysis, and software life cycle methods and tools.
  • Experience in and proven successful relationships working with Civil Systems Group customers. This should include experience in developing proposals, service lines and research lines in order to secure new work and expand customer base.
  • Program Office and ETG experience
