Responsibilities

The Principal Director will manage the Computing Technology & Research Subdivison; senior staff and four departments. Staff in this subdivision are located  in El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA and Colorado Springs, CO.

 

Key Functions

  • Advance and apply technologies supporting Information Systems for National Security Space:
    • High-performance and cloud computing
    • Web services
    • Enterprise computing environments
    • Ground systems and Command and Control systems engineering
    • Embedded systems
    • Data science and analytics
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • High-level network protocols
    • Quantum computing
  • Lead subdivision activities and interaction with all subdivision Customers
  • Foster a strong research environment as the focal point for Corporate research in Information Sciences
  • Continue and grow collaboration with academia and other research organizations
  • Lead the development and communication of technical objectives for the subdivision; prioritization of technical effort; assuring the quality and timeliness of all technical products and contractual deliverables; staffing and personnel actions; budgetary and manpower allocations
  • Lead and / or participate in technical projects of importance to the company and corporate projects that advance the Corporation’s goals
  • Ensure the full capabilities of the subdivision are available to all Aerospace programs
  • Assure adherence to all applicable security and safety procedures

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Experience performing and managing research / engineering / scientific work in progressively more responsible positions
  • Excellent personal technical reputation and a record of substantial personal technical achievement
  • Sufficient technical breadth for leadership of the subdivision
  • Management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and research skills, including prototype development
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and management, as well as Customer, Corporate, and Contractor personnel
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Current and active DoD Secret SSBI security clearance 

 

Preferred

  • PhD in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Aerospace management experience
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing strategic research portfolios, including transitioning research findings into operational systems
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting, engineering, and acquiring satellite systems
  • Aerospace Program Office, and ETG experience highly desired
  • Familiarity with all Aerospace Customers
