Aerospace is seeking a Principal Director to provide technical and organizational leadership of the Aerospace Engineering and Advanced Applications Directorate in the Space Superiority Division (SSD).  As a manager, the Principal Director assigns resources, determines staffing needs, and coordinates activities and operations among staff; communicates and coordinates activities to counterpart organizations, management, and customers. 

Key Functions:

  • Provide senior technical guidance and manage Aerospace effort in support of the customer.
  • Ensure Aerospace technical resources are focused on the integration of elements across the customer portfolio.
  • Provide direct technical support to senior customers and act as their trusted technical advisor. 
  • Collaborate with all SSD elements to promote enterprise solutions for customer architectures. 
  • Provide planning, staffing, and budgeting of program office and ETG support staff to assure optimum Aerospace resources are effectively applied to the programs.
  • Ensure program office staff and matrixed teams work closely with customers and contractors to provide core function support.
  • Ensure Aerospace professional integrity and trusted agent role are maintained and are consistent with government mission objectives and corporate interests.
  • This position requires moderate travel and extensive interactions with customer management, senior executives, project officers, contractors, other government agencies and Aerospace matrix support.


  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science
  • 15 or more years of professional experience in a relevant field
  • 10 or more years of experience supporting National Security Space programs
  • Demonstrated success in technical assignments
  • 5 or more years experience in technical management position
  • 5 or more years experience in Program Office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current Top Secret /SCI access



  • Advanced degree in engineering or science
  • Demonstrated capabilities in systems engineering at enterprise levels
  • Direct experience in the acquisition of a major space system
  • 5 years management experience with Aerospace
  • Working knowledge of current acquisition policies and practices
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace corporate policies and practices
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace corporate strategies and goals
