Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities 
We are looking for a Payload RF Electronics Engineer/Sr. Payload RF Electronics Engineer to serve as a key member of a team supporting the planning, acquisition, and development of a system of systems.  This position is to provide mission assurance and technical leadership, while working closely with multiple contractors, program offices, government customers, and Aerospace Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).  The Payload RF Electronics Engineer/Sr. Payload RF Electronics Engineer will lead efforts with respect to the evaluation, acquisition, manufacturing, and testing of the RF subsystems of a space system payload. The Payload RF Electronics Engineer/Sr. Payload RF Electronics Engineer will also lead the relevant Aerospace Engineering Matrix organization efforts. 


Key Functions

  • Provide Radio Frequency (RF) technical expertise in systems engineering and support for acquisition, development, deployment, and sustainment of a space system payload. 
  • Provide technical leadership to Aerospace SMEs, alongside government customers, contractors, and (Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance) SETA personnel, for payload RF subsystem requirements, design, test, interfaces, and risk management. 
  • Present technical analysis and recommendations to Aerospace leadership, government customers, system contractor(s), and SETA contractors
  • Apply mission assurance standards, planning and implementation along with risk assessment processes in support of risk mitigation activities using best practices, analysis methods and associated tools.
  • Provide leadership in anomaly and root cause investigations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Payload RF Electronics Engineer

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline
  • Current or active Top Secret clearance with SSBI or the ability to obtain this clearance
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively more responsible engineering experience
  • Prior RF engineering experience, specifically in requirements development, design, build, and test of an RF system/subsystem
  • Ability to build and manage relations and expectations with multiple levels of internal/external organizations and stakeholders
  • Ability to build consensus among multi-disciplinary teams within Integrated Product Teams and Working Groups
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel ~10% of the time required


In addition to the above the Senior Payload RF Electronics Engineer must have the following: 

  • Minimum 12 years of progressively more responsible engineering experience
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision 
  • Ability to work adaptively in multiple tasks in a small, diverse team, in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to proactively identify technical and programmatic risks, strategically plan for their mitigation, and lead teams to successful resolution
  • Experience in mission assurance planning/implementation; evaluation of potential architectures and associated trades
  • Prior leadership experience in in managing teams
  • Prior experience in anomaly and root cause investigations.  


Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering with RF or related technical discipline 
  • Experience in mission assurance planning/implementation; evaluation of potential architectures and associated trades (Required for Senior Payload RF Electronics Engineer position) 
  • Previous program office acquisition experience
  • Prior experience in design, development, deployment and sustainment of Department of Defense (DoD) or Intelligence Community (IC) National Security Space (NSS) missions
