Responsibilities

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is undergoing a modernization upgrade in all three segments: space, ground, and user equipment (Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE)).  The Systems Security Engineering, Integration, and Test Department is responsible for the Aerospace involvement in Navigation Warfare, GPS Enterprise Cybersecurity, GPS Enterprise Systems Integration, and GPS Enterprise Test and Verification activities. Current work in GPS Test and Verification includes Integrated Systems Tests with modernized receivers for MGUE, the next generation GPS control segment, and end to end test activities demonstrating new capabilities, as well as contractor development tests, and support for the GPS III SV-01.

 

This position can be filled as a Project Engineer or Sr. Project Engineer

The selected applicant will represent Aerospace in Enterprise Test and Verification activities of the GPS Directorate. The selected applicant will actively participate in working groups focusing on Enterprise Test and Verification activities and work with the Government to prepare for and execute these activities. Selected candidate will participate in verification of enterprise level requirements that support operational acceptance and bring new capability to the warfighter. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who works with minimal direction, can multi-task, and possesses good communication skills (written & verbal).

 

Key Functions

  • Execute enterprise-level test planning, test execution, and test closure for system-level requirement verification
  • Support system-level analysis and simulation activities to ensure GPS system end-to-end performance
  • Support test article tracking, deficiency reporting, and test report generation
  • Analyze and support GPS segment (Space, Control, and MGUE) verification and validation test activities
  • Participate in risk mitigation test activities such as System Integration Demonstrations, Enterprise Assessments, Test Vectors, Modeling & Simulation and Certification Planning
  • Coordinate test activities with implementing contractors and staff from SE&I, Government, and Federal Funded Research organizations
  • Support quality Integrated Test Team and other Integrated Product Team meetings and actions
  • Some travel will be required.

Qualifications

Required for Project Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline 
  • 8 or more years of engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Experience in test planning, execution, and requirement verification
  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skill to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
  • Ability to work effectively with Aerospace, government, and contractors
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Current Secret Clearance 

 

Required for Sr. Project Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related technical discipline 
  • 12 or more years of engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Experience in test planning, execution, and requirement verification
  • Experience writing and delivering technical documents and briefings
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skill to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams
  • Ability to work effectively with Aerospace, government, and contractors
  • Knowledge of GPS
  • Experience working with government, contractors, and contractor test organizations
  • Experience leading technical efforts with internal and external organizations
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Current Secret Clearance
