Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Electronics technician for an opportunity in the Microelectronics Technology Department in the Physical Sciences Laboratories. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA. The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing, building, modifying, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of laboratory electrical and electronic apparatus and equipment, and demonstrates behavior that is consistent with the company's values of Dedication to Mission Success, Technical Excellence, Commitment to Our People, Integrity and Objectivity.

 

Key Functions

  • Work with a team of scientists and engineers to develop electronic hardware systems for microelectronics and optoelectronics laboratory research in support of national security space programs
  • Designs and builds, tests, and debugs digital, analog and RF printed circuit boards using electronic CAD tools, based on requirements from engineers
  • Selects parts, obtains quotes, and suggests appropriate parts for purchase
  • Maintains laboratory equipment inventory and assists in property audits
  • Ensures all equipment is in compliance with company requirements
  • Writes and tests software, such as in Labview or Python programming languages. Uses above systems to perform experimental data acquisition and analysis
  • Perform wiring, soldering, documentation, assembly and testing of wiring harnesses and test fixtures
  • Perform mechanical assembly work on test fixtures, including vacuum and cryogenic components

Qualifications

Required

  • Associates degree in electrical engineering technology or related degree with 3 years experience
  • Experience working with laboratory safety protocols
  • Experience in digital and analog circuitry
  • Experience with PCB layout and design with electronic CAD tools (PADs, ExpressPCB or equivalent)
  • Experience building circuit boards and test fixtures and troubleshooting at the component level
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, DMM and/or other related test equipment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required

 

Preferred

  • BS or related degree preferred
  • Thorough comprehension of electronic circuit design, including fluency reading circuit schematics
  • Basic knowledge of linear circuit operation and low noise circuit design
  • Proficiency in LabView programming, including creating custom drivers for circuit boards
  • Experience with microcontroller programming (PIC chips, Arduino or equivalent)
  • Experience with vacuum system assembly and operation
  • Experience in a scientific laboratory research environment
