Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Microelectronics Technology Department at The Aerospace Corporation conducts basic and applied research in microelectronic and optoelectronic devices for space applications, and provides technical support to national security space programs in these areas.  MTD is looking for a member of the technical staff to support investigations of microelectronics reliability, advanced microelectronics technology nodes, capability development, novel devices, and physics of failure in advanced CMOS, SiGe, SOI, III-V, II-VI, and other advanced processes for space applications.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct innovative basic and applied research in the area of advanced microelectronic device technologies and applications to space systems, including reliability and physics of failure.
  • Design and build electronic characterization test capabilities to investigate reliability and physics of failure in advanced microelectronic and optoelectronic components.
  • Provide technical assessments of reliability in microelectronic and optoelectronic devices.
  • Present results internally and at scientific meetings and publish research in refereed journals.
  • Provide technical support to national security space programs in these areas.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2 or more years of increasingly responsible and related engineering/scientific experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance.
  • Candidate must have strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals and a demonstrated ability to develop and execute innovative research projects. 
  • Candidates must have good oral communication and technical writing skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of microelectronic and optoelectronic device physics.
  • Experience in testing microelectronic devices.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in microelectronic device probe station programing and statistical data analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing test capabilities for advanced devices is strongly preferred.
