The Aerospace Corporation believes in providing the highest level of service to our employees. We are seeking a dynamic Manager of Payroll for approximately 3,900 employees. You will be responsible for managing, planning and directing the workflow and daily operations of all functions of the Payroll Department.  ln this role, you will maintain the standards of excellence set forth in the department. You will communicate and solve complex problems with other departments, mangers, employees, auditors and outside agencies. This role will manage a small but mighty team and reside at The Aerospace Corporation's corporate office in El Segundo, CA.


Key Functions

  • Oversees and prepares financial statements, contract billings, cash management, fixed asset accounting, cash receipts, group insurance, overhead claims, payroll transactions, travel expense related transactions, account reconciliations, account analysis, and other billings
  • Prepares and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy
  • Ensures internal controls are maintained; communicates accounting and internal control policies and procedures
  • Provides general and detailed information for various claims, audits and rebuttals, including effects of amortizing costs and interest rates for both internal and external users
  • Responsible for hiring, supervising, providing training, scheduling overtime, approving time off, determining objectives, initiating action and completing annual performance reviews of staff
  • Plans, assigns and reviews the work of staff



  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in the payroll field with at least three (3) of those years in a people management role.  
  • Experience with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Current experience with SSA, IRS, state and local taxation
  • Experience managing, monitoring and overseeing  internal controls which ensure compliance of corporate policies and established payroll procedures
  • Experience interacting with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audits
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Experience in managing a multi-state, in-house payroll process
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to build partnerships and team with employees across the corporation
