Responsibilities

The Business Analyst is responsible for partnering with customers, service providers, systems analysts, developers, and engineers to gather requirements and develop solutions. Analyzes and translates business, customer, and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives. Provides technical guidance and leadership across multiple IT service areas and may be called upon to lead cross functional technical teams to resolve critical, time-sensitive issues.

 

This role can be filled at a level 2 or Level 3

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Work with business stakeholders to elicit requirements and codify business processes
  • Elicit business requirements and translate them into IT requirements and design decisions
  • Communicate technical opportunities and constraints from IT subject-matter experts back to business stakeholders
  • Facilitate re-engineering of business processes to optimize them
  • Lead and perform technical analyses of alternatives / trade studies
  • Evaluate new technologies and lead cross-organizational teams to analyze, select, and integrate these technologies with existing services
  • Determine and develop architectural approaches and solutions, and provide technical leadership in identifying and mitigating risk across the IT service portfolio
  • Perform project management functions including project-level planning and budgeting
  • Work with teams executing a Scrum agile methodology to manage their work

 

Qualifications

Required for level 2

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other relevant field of study.
  • Three or more years of Business analysis 
  • Experience with Business analysis and project management
  • This position requires a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

 

Required for Level 3

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other relevant field of study
  • Six or more years of Business analysis
  • Portfolio of leadership in Business analysis and project management
  • This position requires a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (Masters, MBA, PhD) in relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or participating in business process re-engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analyses of alternatives or trade studies.
  • Demonstrated experience or specialization in one or more business or information technology domains.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, and facilitate decision-making despite ambiguity and incomplete information
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated proficiency at adapting communication to both business and technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Scrum or agile methods a strong plus, including any relevant certifications (e.g., certified Scrum Master or Product Owner)
  • Other relevant certifications (e.g., PMI certifications, Six Sigma).
