Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior System Engineering expert in satellite communications for the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) System Engineering, Integration, and Test branch.  Provide technical leadership in an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, SE&IS, SETA, and contractors. In coordination with SE lead, provide support across wide variety of system engineering efforts for ESS Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Fielding. The selected candidate will possess excellent oral and written communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with Aerospace peers, SETA colleagues, contractor representatives, and Air Force counterparts.  Will be responsible for requirements, external interfaces, transition from legacy system, program risks, test and verification. Will also support architecture, cyber, crypto, tech evaluations, and agile mission assurance.   
 
Key Functions
• Coordinate SE activities with program office colleagues, ETG specialists and SETA contractors to ensure a successful ESS rapid prototyping
• Identify and prioritize SE tasks for the ESS Rapid Prototyping acquisition planning, RFP preparation, and proposal evaluation which may include ground and crypto
• Provide technical expertise in support of government system integration activities during the Rapid Prototyping phase
• Assess risks and develop mitigation plans for interoperability and systems integration
• Prepare and present briefings to senior Aerospace management and Air Force Leadership
• Prepare weekly status reports
• Travel is required as needed

Qualifications

Required

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experiences
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, RF systems, system integration, and space system architecture
  • Demonstrated experience in program acquisition and execution
  • Experience in performing risk assessments
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with Aerospace, government, SETA and contractor personnel
  • Experience with program office processes
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers
  • Active Top Secret and SCI clearances
  • Ability to travel as needed

 

Preferred

  • Advanced technical degree in engineering, science or physics
  • Experience with military protected satellite communications
  • Experience with the AEHF system requirements
  • Knowledge of AEHF user’s requirements and communication networks
  • Knowledge of military communication satellite resiliency requirements and analyses
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership abilities, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with the Aerospace Mission Assurance Processes
  • Familiar with Aerospace culture and prior experience coordinating with Engineering & Technology Group (ETG)
