Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation believes in providing impactful communications to our employees and the customers we serve.  We are looking for the right person to join our team as an Employee Communications Strategist. The successful candidate recognizes how to autonomously build and implement creative internal and external communication plans, and is able to interpret technical data and concepts into captivating and consumable information over a wide range of audiences. The Employee Communications Strategist will have strong writing and editing skills, an understanding of digital channels and storytelling, and the ability to learn and utilize a variety of established communication infrastructure tools and methods. This position, located in our El Segundo office, will play a vital role in supporting our internal organizations with communications plans and campaigns.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Applies expert-level knowledge of strategy, content development, information design, tactics, and measurement to develop and implement multifaceted strategic communications plans.
  • Defines goals and objectives; tailors communications approaches to desired outcomes; determines measures of success; monitors and reports on results.
  • Proactively advises senior leaders on appropriate tactics and backs up recommendations with data on state-of-the-art best practices; educates decision-makers on current industry research for creating and maintaining a well-informed and engaged workforce.
  • Oversees and contributes to the creation of content for promotional material and information kits to inform employees about various initiatives and activities, from concept through execution and distribution. Tailors messaging for a variety of audiences and channels. Works both hands-on and as a team lead.
  • Advises on rollout of new initiatives and companywide changes; applies change management expertise to create tiered, audience-focused plans. Revises as necessary to respond to changing circumstances.
  • Develops strategies with other Aerospace locations to ensure that site employees are informed, engaged, and have an experience consistent with those at headquarters.
  • Works with corporate officers to develop messaging and create presentations, emails, and other employee outreach tools. Defines key messages and Q&A.
  • Develops metrics and measurement tools to ensure that communications are reaching the intended audiences.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field and 15 or more years of experience in a corporate environment.
  • Strong project management skills and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience and the application of concepts and practices in communications, change management, public relations, marketing, and journalism.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and prioritize effectively.
  • Must be strategic, and deadline-oriented within a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, to include some evenings and weekends on short notice.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. This is issued by the US government and US citizenship is required. 

 

Preferred

  • Familiarity with the national security space, government, and/or military communities is desired.
  • Candidate will demonstrate an outgoing, energetic style and consistently professional demeanor.
  • Must be strategic, positive, aggressive, flexible, deadline-oriented and a team player with experience in fast-paced environments.
