Responsibilities

The Associate Systems Director will assist the Systems Director with the leadership of payload development and integration across activities supporting the Air Force's Special Capabilities Division; these include supporting studies for the design, build, test and integration of future MILSATCOM payloads, supporting the execution of risk reduction activities, demonstrations, and acquisition Milestones.   The Associate Systems Director will provide technical direction to and management leadership of the Aerospace team; develop, lead and maintain technical strategies, engineering best practices and mission assurance processes for payload development; provide strategic direction for and review of technical requirements and documentation development; and provide support for proposal technical evaluations.

 

The selected candidate will demonstrate seasoned technical analysis and judgment skills. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to handle disagreements professionally.

 

Key Functions

•             A significant challenge will be executing payload development and integration with a lean program office help assemble a high performing team with the appropriate skills mix to support payload development functions

•             Provide payload expertise within the Advanced Systems Directorate ensure that all Aerospace accountabilities are fully satisfied and documented and that all Aerospace technical positions, products, and recommendations are timely, accurate and executable

•             Work closely with the Air Force management team to identify program technical challenges and ensure that they are met with timely, high-quality solutions

•             Development of new approaches to meeting user requirements and assessment of other recommended approaches

•             Maintain and strengthen the teaming relationships among the Government, Aerospace and SETA stakeholders, and will promote close teaming between the Aerospace and Air Force program office staff members

•             Further, ensure timely and accurate reporting of program information to senior Aerospace and Air Force managers

•             Work with the Systems Director on Aerospace staffing, budgetary, and personnel management for the organization

•             Moderate travel is required

Qualifications

Required

•             BS in Engineering or Science

•             12 or more years of relevant experience that includes experience with relevant payload technologies

•             Proven ability to take initiative and lead teams

•             Superior verbal and written communication skills

•             TS/SSBI with SCI and the ability to pass CI polygraph

•             Active program clearance for the Air Force's Special Capabilities Division

•             Ability to travel as needed

 

Preferred

•             Advanced engineering/science degree

•             Experience in mission assurance processes

•             Experience with DoD acquisition processes
