Responsibilities

Provide leadership and management oversight for strategy development and program support as part of the Center for Space Policy and Strategy within Defense System Operations (part of Defense Systems Group).  

 

Key Functions

  • Responsibilities will include forming and leading high-quality technical, policy and programmatic teams to support key CSPS customers, both internal and external to Aerospace.  These cross-corporation and cross-organizational teams will develop strategies, evaluate programs, and execute studies and analysis activities aligned with customer needs. 
  • Help customers anticipate how policy options might play when they encounter other interests (Congress, the Pentagon, other government agencies, industry, international partners, etc.), or when external adversaries make moves to counter them. 
  • The selected candidate will also manage CSPS administrative support functions and lead CSPS efforts to support and grow CSPS non-overhead, direct charge efforts. 
  • Deliver superb products (papers, reports, presentations) and decision support capabilities to any Aerospace customer or organization as needed, and foster appropriate information sharing across the space enterprise to help assure mission success.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) in a policy-relevant or technical discipline is required. 
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience supporting U.S. government functions and/or policy development is required.
  • The qualified candidate must have demonstrated, strong leadership skills, including team building/leadership, conflict resolution, staffing and customer relationship building. 
  • Broad U.S. government experience and some specific experience relevant to Aerospace’s Pentagon customers and to Congress is required. 
  • Experience supporting and/or leading policy and program evaluation teams and studying topics of national significance is required. 
  • Familiarity with national security system acquisition and budgeting processes, including the Defense Acquisition System (DAS); Programming, Planning, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE); and the annual budget review process is desired. 
  • Experience supporting development and/or implementation of national space policy is required. 
  • The qualified candidate must possess superb verbal and written communication skills and should have the ability to work effectively with senior government customers (including flag or SES level) from diverse organizations. 
  • Active SCI access is required.
