Provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) to Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) projects in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will be responsible for providing systems engineering for development of SSA architectures, capabilities, requirements, plans and intersections with Defensive and Offensive Space Control and Space Surveillance systems.  Duties include eliciting requirements, conducting analysis of architecture components; allocating functions to architecture artifacts; and developing integrated systems through enterprise-level architectures.  The selected candidate will be expected to interact with Aerospace’s Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), other program office staff, and a wide variety of Department of Defense (DOD) organizations including HQ AFSPC, JFCC SPACE and its Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC) personnel, SAF/SP, SSDP, US Strategic Command and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).  The candidate will also be expected to interface with the Intelligence Community and other government organizations such as the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) and the Department of Commerce (DoC).


This is a dual level requisition which can be filled as a Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer.



  • A bachelor degree in engineering or natural sciences from a recognized institution (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience) with 8 (PE) or more years/ 12 (Sr. PE) or more years of relevant engineering/technical experience.  An advanced degree is preferred. 
  • A strong technical background with experience in systems engineering, system architecting, and requirements development is required. 
  • Experience in Enterprise Architectures, including the information an enterprise architecture description should provide to all consumers (and how DoDAF supports that communication), hardware and software performance and requirements, relational database structures (schema), Information System Security requirements including STIG and SCAP, and various technical specifications including UML, XML, HTML, and XMI, is strongly desired. 
  • Experience in military and commercial system development and/or acquisition is desired.
  • Familiarity with organizational structure and roles and responsibilities of the DOD and IC in relation to SSA and space security functionality is desired. 
  • Familiarity with Aerospace reachback capabilities and relationships is desired. 
  • Candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication and briefing skills along with demonstrated ability to work independently and interact effectively with high-level government, Aerospace, and contractor personnel. 
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and SAP/SAR clearances. 
  • Some travel is required.
