Responsibilities

The corporation provides technical guidance and advice on all aspects of space missions to military, civil, and commercial customers. As a vehicle engineering specialist within the Vehicle Actualization section, you will deliver vehicle-level engineering and support from post-conceptual design phase through end of mission. You will also be responsible for validating and testing vehicle subsystem interactions, performing milestone as well as targeted risk independent reviews, and as well as monitoring vehicle oversight and assembly and performing integration and test support.

 

Key Functions

  • Provide spacecraft engineering expertise to multiple programs on Military and Intelligence Community systems
  • Oversee subsystem and system level acquisition, design verification, integration and test activities for space vehicles, and vehicle interfaces to ground and launch vehicles
  • Provide technical leadership in identifying, mitigating, and solving applicable satellite and subsystem risks and issues
  • Support design changes, development, unit qualification, and unit manufacturing
  • Coordinate additional Aerospace engineering and laboratory support; form recommendations to program office and customer management
  • Works independently with internal and external customers as well as with other technical staff, as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader
  • Participate in multiple working groups and sustain working relationships with contractors, program office, and customer counterparts

 

This position could be filled in Chantilly, VA., or El Segundo, CA. 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or related field with at least 8 years of space experience with a background in one significant vehicle subsystem, e.g., Satellite Communications, Power, AD&CS, structures, mechanisms, propulsion, etc.
  • Experience applying engineering skills, mission assurance, and test standards to the resolution of problems
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to establish, maintain working relationships, and work effectively across customers, Aerospace, and contractor personnel
  • Current SCI/SSBI clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel

 

Preferred

  • Advanced degree(s) in Engineering, Mathematics or Science
  • Knowledge of ETG analytical, test, and research capabilities
  • Experience in a vehicle level engineering and/or program management environment
  • Ability to pass a Full Scope Polygraph
  • Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
