Responsibilities

Summary:

The Resiliency Programs Office needs a highly motivated engineer to work across a broad range of space technology development areas and provide insights into the feasibility and development strategies of these technologies as applied to customer resilient space initiatives.  Resiliency is a critical mission area across multiple government customers, and advancing innovative solutions to the most pressing national technical resiliency challenges is a significant role for Aerospace. 
As a Technologist / Senior Technologist, you will work closely with internal customers, external stakeholders, and industry partners to identify innovative solutions to pressing technical challenges, determine the feasibility of enabling space technologies and assist in the transition of these technologies to operational systems as deemed applicable. The role includes identifying Aerospace technology development capabilities and applying these capabilities to inform potential innovative solutions to tough technical challenges for the customer. You will be leading cross-disciplinary teams to provide technical assessments to the customer on timelines consistent with program needs. Expand your knowledge into new areas by utilizing the depth of the Aerospace technical backplane, and apply that knowledge to the customer challenges. This position provides the opportunity for networking with Aerospace technology focused organizations, government leaders, contractors and SETA support across the national security space community. There will also be opportunities to brief the customer and Aerospace management regarding Aerospace activities in support of critical technology development efforts. This position is based in Chantilly, VA.  


Key Functions

  • Serve as an Aerospace Technologist and key representative for customer space technology development initiatives
  • Lead the application of Aerospace resources to identify and assess technological innovation for the customer
  • Develop innovative opportunities for Aerospace prototyping and technology risk reduction activities in support of future customer challenges
  • Provide insights to the customer on Aerospace laboratory capabilities in technology maturation areas of interest
  • Lead multi-disciplined Aerospace teams in support of space technology development initiatives
  • Establish and track resource allocations for Aerospace in support of new technology efforts
  • Facilitate communication and act as spokesperson to management and the customer on Aerospace technology development accomplishments

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for the Senior Technologist

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science or mathematics from an accredited institution
  • Current and active TS/SCI 
  • Ability for occasional travel within US
  • Significant experience working on space technology development initiatives
  • Demonstrated understanding of transitioning new space technologies into operational systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to work in dynamic environment and make significant impact to National Security Space


Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Technologist

  • Technical advanced degree related to technology and/or engineering
  • 12 or more years of space system technology and/or hardware development leadership
  • Demonstrated team leadership in maturing space capabilities from concept to flight
  • Demonstrated ability developing new and innovative ways to utilize and expand Aerospace Engineering Matrix capabilities in support of customer technology maturation activities


Required Qualifications for the Technologist

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science or mathematics from an accredited institution
  • Current and active TS/SCI 
  • Ability for occasional travel within US
  • Experience working on space technology development initiatives
  • Understanding of process for transitioning new space technologies into operational systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong desire to work in dynamic environment and make significant impact to National Security Space


Preferred Qualifications for the Technologist

  • Technical advanced degree related to technology and/or engineering
  • 8 or more years of space system technology and/or hardware development experience
  • Experience maturing space capabilities from concept to flight
  • Experience developing new and innovative ways to utilize and expand Aerospace Engineering Matrix capabilities in support of customer needs
