Responsibilities

Aerospace’s Software Implementation and Integration Department (SIID) is looking for a mid-level Section Manager to lead and grow a team of engineers who design, implement and deploy software solutions to support our nation’s space enterprise. The Software Implementation Section support a variety of customers including the Space Missile Center (SMC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and other civil customers (e.g. NASA), and NOAA. The section manager will provide technical management, oversight to support software engineering projects for mission-critical space systems.

 

Key Functions

  • Provides task planning, schedule, and labor estimates for proposed technical work assignments. Advises supervision of resources needs and capabilities. Provides inputs for budgetary planning.
  • Development of software infrastructure to support dataset management, automated testing, and DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Work with department director and other managers as needed in all aspects of developing and managing the organization.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead staff to create cutting edge prototypes in the fields of ground and spacecraft cyber security.
  • Interface with the program office customers in task scoping, budget and project management.
  • Extensive interaction via technical working groups, briefings, and personal contact with other engineers, program office personnel, contractors, and government personnel.
  • Lead project teams in the proposal, design and execution of research and development tasks both internal and external to the department
  • Ensure the technical qualify of deliverables (reports, software, services, etc.) to customers.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline from a recognized institution
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, mentor junior staff, lead technical efforts, and interact effectively with a broad range of organizations.
  • Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance issued by the U.S. government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

  

Preferred

  • Current TS/SCI level clearance with CI poly
  • Advanced degrees (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience with Agile, SAFe Agile, DevSecOps processes.
  • Prior experience working with one or more of our core customers (NRO, NOAA, SMC)
