Responsibilities

The Advanced Sensor Engineering Department (ASED) is a group of engineers and scientists actively engaged in developing the next generation of remote sensing systems of national importance.  ASED members develop and test prototype sensors, model system performance, explore new phenomenology, and assess the performance of EO components through modeling and simulation.

 

Key Functions

  • Model sensor and spacecraft performance.
  • Develop demonstration prototype payloads for airborne flight and cubesat demonstrations. 
  • Perform laboratory testing of advanced EO sensors and other technologies, developing new testing capabilities as necessary.
  • Document and present findings to colleagues and customers
  • Travel as necessary to support customer requirements (< 10%).

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree from an accredited university in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another appropriate technical discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience with at least one of the following:
    • Data Analysis and modeling of remote sensing EO systems
    • Development or modeling of spacecraft sub-systems
  • Strong scientific programming skills: Matlab, IDL, Python, etc.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

 

Preferred

  • Project leadership experience, including coordination between multiple teams on a common project.
  • An advanced degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another appropriate technical discipline.
  • Current and active TS/SCI.
