Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities

We are looking for a Sr. Electro-Optical Engineer to support Research & Development (R&D) work in the in the Research and Technology Department, GEOINT Innovations Office.As a partner in the Imagery Programs Division, National Systems Group, you will provide direct customer support to the government program managers of the GEOINT Research and Technology (R&T) Group, National Reconnaissance Office.  The primary role is providing technical support to R&D of EO technology projects for space payloads.


Key Functions

  • Technical and programmatic support of R&T EO programs as well as directly interfacing with government program managers 
  • Planning, tasking and managing of activities with Aerospace Engineering Matrix Support and Technology and Lab Operations resources to perform R&D that:
  • influences and supports R&T investment strategy and decisions;
  • develops metrics to measure R&D progress; 
  • enhances and provides mission assurance (MA) to the R&D projects; 
  • performs verification and validation on the technology 
  • provides feedback to improve the technology and its chance for success
  • Developing strong working knowledge of the R&T EO portfolio and relevant advanced technology developments.
  • Support PMRs and design reviews for EO projects
  • Tracking and reporting Aerospace accomplishments to senior corporate and customer management
  • Moderate travel required

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics, electrical engineering, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution 
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience
  • Working knowledge and experience with electro-optical technology
  • Ability to work closely with government program management
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic Program Office environment with a mix of government, FFRDC, and SETA personnel
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communications skills
  • Current TS/SSBI


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in physics, electrical engineering, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution 
  • Demonstrated experience with NRO programs
  • Strong background in electro-optical imaging systems and technology
  • Previous experience with GEOINT programs and passive and active imaging technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting the development of state-of-the-art, advanced technology capabilities
  • Understanding of device physics
  • Familiarity with the broader science and technology community
  • Experience working with remote sensing payloads 
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace Engineering Matrix and Technology and Laboratory Operations capabilities
