Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation’s Digital Electronics and Electromagnetics Department is seeking an engineer interested in antenna and RF design, simulation, prototyping and testing related work.  The department has extensive experience in working on a range of RF and antenna systems.  The work includes modeling and simulation work, lab and electronics related work, development of prototype breadboards / brassboards for performance evaluation and testing of antenna and RF systems.  The work involves engaging with senior staff to support simulation and hardware efforts.  This posting is targeted toward an engineer with a technical foundation in RF and antennas that would enjoy the challenge of modeling a variety of antenna / RF systems, doing hands on prototype development and testing and system level analysis.

 

Key Functions

  • Simulate antennas and RF systems utilizing tools such as HFSS, GRASP, ADS and Microwave Office.
  • Write custom analysis tools as needed in languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Design, build and test antenna and RF prototypes for performance characterization.
  • Assist senior staff in simulation and hands on laboratory work.
  • Support ongoing laboratory projects with antenna and RF expertise and laboratory experience.
  • Support studies used to provide oversight, guidance and technical advice on customer projects involving antennas and RF systems.
  • Work with other engineers as a team member in solving problems.

 

This position can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff

Qualifications

Required

  • Degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering or physics or another related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience post-bachelor degree (graduate school counts as experience).
  • Foundational knowledge of antennas and RF systems (academic or work experience)
  • Experience with any of the above-mentioned antenna/RF simulation tools
  • Experience working in an electronics laboratory environment.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

 

Preferred

Advanced degree in the area of electrical engineering or physics.

 

Requirements for Senior Member of Technical Staff

Required

  • Degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering or physics or another related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience (post-bachelor degree).
  • Specific experience working with antenna/RF measurement equipment such as a network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, RF signal generators, antenna test chamber.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Foundational knowledge of antennas and RF systems (academic or work experience).
  • Experience with any of the above-mentioned antenna/RF simulation tools
  • Experience working in an electronics laboratory environment.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.  U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
