Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking for an Performance Modeling and Analysis Undergraduate Intern for an internship opportunity. This position is located in Chantilly, VA and will be for summer 2019. 

 

The qualified candidate will be come part of the Performance Modeling and Analysis Department. 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Apply evolutionary computing and multi-criterion decision making techniques to tradespace analysis.
  • Assess overall performance of space systems.
  • Work with department staff as part of project teams.
  • Tasking will vary during internship and may include multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Apply in-house or custom-developed analysis tools as necessary.
  • Develop new analysis tools and techniques as necessary.
  • Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
  • Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics or related program
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Technically adept in the development and use of computer tools.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Dependability and good interpersonal skills.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Familiarity with astrodynamics and related mathematics.
  • Demonstrated skills in documentation and presentation of results.
