Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities

We are looking for an Engineer/ Sr. Engineer to serve as a technical advisor to the Integrated Intelligence (I2) Ground Enterprise for the National Reconnaissance Office. This Engineer/ Sr. Engineer will assist the government in acquiring Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning and rule based capabilities by providing technical and software-focused programmatic oversight and systems engineering expertise throughout the acquisition, development and maintenance lifecycle. In addition to advising the government on software acquisitions, the I2 engineer/ Sr. I2 Engineer will lead and coordinate technical analyses using Aerospace’s industry-leading subject matter expertise, in support of the Integrated Intelligence Ground systems.


Key Functions:

  • Leading and managing major technical studies assessing the impacts to deliver intelligent ground systems in the context of technology, mission requirements, architecture, and cost
  • Evaluating contractor algorithms, architectures and designs to assess mission utility and to ensure functional and performance requirements are satisfied
  • Contributing to the development of acquisition documentation
  • Participating in acquisition reviews
  • Participating in verification and validation of activities and products


In addition to the above, the duties for the Senior Integrated Intelligence Engineer may also include:

  • Defining future I2 capabilities
  • Steering prototype and research developments to demonstrate state of the art AI/ML for customer specified problem sets
  • Supporting contract solicitation and negotiations
  • Formulating acquisition strategies and participating in pre-acquisition activities
  • Identifying risks and watch items and recommending mitigation strategies
  • Recommending strategies to migrate functions to common infrastructure and services
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

For the Integrated Intelligence Engineer

  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Experience with technical definition, systems engineering, or software development lifecycles, such as supporting focused technical studies, readiness reviews, or sustainment activities
  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with SSBI
  • Exceptionally high level of innovation, creativity, and personal initiative
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and experience authoring technical reports and briefings for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Travel as necessary to support job requirements
  • Ability to occasionally flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines
  • This position requires the ability to have and maintain a security clearance, issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


In addition to the above requirements, the Senior Integrated Intelligence Engineer will have:

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Strong experience with the technical definition, systems engineering, or software development lifecycles and experience with the development or acquisition of software-intensive systems
  • Strong experience with US Government acquisition and systems engineering processes, including supporting technical definition, readiness reviews and verification and validation activities
  • Experience working in a program office environment, including interfacing with customer counterparts and serving as a key technical advisor for a system or segment
  • Experience working with development contractors in a technical oversight role, such as supporting capability definition, software release planning, quality assurance, deployment, or sustainment
  • Demonstrated personal initiative with respect to being self-tasking and raising issues and concerns to customers and management

 
Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Knowledge of NRO systems engineering, acquisition, and integration processes
  • Knowledge and experience working with I2 or other ground systems
  • Experience with ground data architecture
  • Experience with overseeing the definition, integration, verification and validation, and transition to operations of large software-based systems
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies
  • Experience with agile-based software development
  • Experience directing matrixed personnel to solve technical problems
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments and completing tasks on short deadlines
  • Experience delivering impartial assessments despite incomplete or imperfect information
