Become the leader of a high-performance team charged with providing Radar expertise and analysis to a cross-cutting portfolio of technical disciplines and customers.  As Director of Aerospace’s Radar Processing and Analysis Department (RPAD) you will lead and manage a diverse set of highly respected engineers and scientists to advance the most challenging Radar technologies and associated missions.  The RPAD team focuses on modeling and simulations of Radar systems, development of processing algorithms as well as providing detailed technical analyses of Radar products.  This prominent position is a significant career opportunity where your leadership will influence programs and technology for the future of Radar.


Key Functions

The Director must possess strong skills in leading a diverse team of technical experts in addressing high interest and high visibility technical challenges. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the Remote Sensing Signals & Analytics Subdivision's Radar Processing and Analysis Department (RPAD) which is a part of the Engineering & Technology Group's Electronic & Sensors Division (ETG/ESD/RSSAS/RPAD).
  • Build, maintain, and drive collaborative relationships across multiple engineering departments across the Engineering Technology Group.
  • Provide technical and organizational vision for the department and develop strategic staffing, budget and facilities plans to achieve that vision.
  • Recruit and develop talent as needed to fulfill departmental, divisional and corporate missions.
  • Maintain and enlarge the department’s customer base via outreach, strategic staffing, and efficient execution of existing tasking.
  • Represent the department and the corporation to high-level government customers.
  • Provide senior technical leadership in one or more areas under the department’s charter and give technical presentations to government customers.
  • Provide management functions such as hiring, performance assessments, mentoring and career planning, manage and track resources, provide weekly/monthly reporting and other required documentation.
  • Support the Principal Director and Aerospace senior leadership in facilitating, sustaining, and growing strong customer relationships.



  • Degree from an accredited university in engineering, science or related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 12 years relevant experience in one or more of the following:
    • Modeling and simulations of Radar systems,
    • Development of Radar data processing algorithms
    • Technical analyses of Radar products
  • Leadership skills as demonstrated by extensive prior project leadership, staff supervision, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain, and grow effective working relationships with customers.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, customer interfacing, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Exhibit an exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, organization, and initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and accurately represent technical issues across diverse areas, even where those areas are not in the applicant’s own field of specialization. 
  • Ability to maintain focus and effectiveness in the face of simultaneous, multiple and sometimes conflicting customer, staff and upper management demands.
  • Ability to manage a bi-coastal organization.
  • Ability to travel locally to off-site meetings and air travel to domestic Aerospace or Customer office locations.
  • Current Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance TS/SCI with SSBI.



  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, or science.
  • Experience working with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and other related Agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, direct and manage the performance, evaluation, and career development of highly skilled technical staff.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace business practices to include STE management and execution, performance development process, technical objective and plan development, continuation learning, and personnel accountability.
  • Expertise in the application of space-based intelligence systems in support of strategic intelligence and combat operations.
  • Experience and expertise in geospatial intelligence collection systems, operations, and intelligence analysis.
  • Experience interfacing with and briefing senior government civilians, and military general officers/flag.
