Responsibilities

The Internal Communications role will develop, plan for, and execute effective employee communications. Plans and executes logistics for company meetings, conferences, and events. Serves as liaison between senior executives, program staff, and corporate communications staff. Responsible for writing, editing, and preparing various types of internal and external communications.

 

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Designs and implements workforce communication strategies and tactics.
  • Plans and executes logistics for company meetings, conferences, and events, often with high-level participants from customer organizations.
  • Manages communications channels to keep offsite employees informed about company events.
  • Services as Corporate Communications POC on various companywide teams and committees.
  • Develops effective communications for corporate initiatives and projects requiring message creation, project planning, and execution.
  • Consults with and advises internal customers on communication needs and the best way to publicize projects and initiatives of various types.
  • Serves as project manager for a variety of long- and short-term requirements; plans tasks and schedules, coordinates multi-function teams, monitors deadlines, and ensures quality.
  • Works with writers, editors, graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to produce print and electronic publications and products.
  • Writes and edits scripts, presentations, emails, and other products for executives; advises on tone, content, and approach.

Qualifications

Required

  • A Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong writing and editing skills; detailed knowledge of grammar and style
  • Ability to translate complex scientific subject matter for a lay audience
  • Ability to express ideas logically, clearly, and concisely
  • Must possess time management and project management skills; ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously with careful attention to detail
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment on high-visibility projects
  • Positive, proactive, can-do, solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong diplomacy and relationship-building skills, good judgment, and consistently professional demeanor
  • A secret clearance which is issued by the U.S. government. A U.S. citizenship is required.

 

Preferred

  • Familiarity with the national security, space, government, and/or military communities
  • Experience with concepts and practices in communications, public relations, marketing, and journalism as well as experience with a wide variety of channels (print, web, broadcast, social media, etc.)
  • Experience with metrics and measurement tools to ensure that communications are reaching the intended audiences
  • Technology-savvy with knowledge of specialized tools and software
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational needs
  • Familiarity with government and military protocol
  • An outgoing, energetic style; a consistently professional demeanor; and a high level of emotional maturity
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
