Responsibilities

Summary of Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated Cloud Architect/Senior Cloud Architect to assist in the development of a next-generation mission processing framework. Drawing on expertise in fielding cloud-based software systems, you will serve as a technical advisor to the National Reconnaissance Office in designing and acquiring a state-of-the-art software framework for GEOINT mission processing applications and services for deployment into a commercial cloud environment. You will also coordinate reach-back to The Aerospace Engineering Matrix staff to bring industry-leading subject matter expertise to bear on critical customer needs.
 

Key Functions

  • Serves as a senior advisor to the US Government in the design and development of a state-of-the-art software framework for hosting GEOINT mission processing applications 
  • Ensures that the program office and developer team fully exploit the capabilities of commercial cloud environments in designing and fielding software solutions
  • Assists the US Government in developing requirements for availability, resiliency, and extensibility of services as new missions and applications are integrated
  • Proactively identifies new technologies and commercially available capabilities for integration into the framework


Duties for The Senior Cloud Architect May Also Include

  • Coordinates with enterprise stakeholders to ensure that user needs are properly understood and satisfied
  • Assists the US Government in formulating acquisition strategies for achieving its architectural vision
  • Participates in pre-solicitation efforts and source selections to help the government achieve best-value solutions from industry

Qualifications

Required 
For the Cloud Architect position the following are required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or related field from a recognized institution
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Experience in the development, acquisition, or deployment of cloud-based software applications/services
  • Familiarity with the systems engineering and software development lifecycles
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with SSBI
  • Exceptionally high level of innovation, creativity, and personal initiative
  • Willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty to accomplish the mission
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Travel as necessary to support job requirements
  • Ability to occasionally flex work schedule to accommodate deadlines
  • This position requires the ability to have and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US Government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


In addition to the above, the Senior Cloud Architect position requires the following:

  • 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience
  • Strong experience with the systems engineering and software development lifecycles
  • Experience with US Government acquisition and systems engineering processes, including supporting readiness reviews and verification and validation activities
  • Experience working with software developers in a technical oversight role, such as supporting software release planning, quality assurance, deployment, or sustainment


Preferred 

  • Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering or scientific field
  • Expertise in agile-based software development and software architecture
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deliver impartial assessments to customers
