Responsibilities

 

The Systems Analysis and Simulation Subdivision, an organization located in El Segundo, Chantilly, and Colorado Springs, is responsible for the performance analysis of space systems and the associated architectures.  We perform analysis at all phases of a broad range of programs and well as ongoing enterprise analysis.  We support the Air force, NRO, and numerous other civil, commercial, and international customers. Our analysis focus lies in the following technical disciplines:  systems engineering, system architecture, modeling and simulation, military utility, communications system, astrodynamics, orbit determination, geolocation, mission operations and analysis, and software development. 

 

 

Key Functions 

 

Deputy to the Principal Director of SASS; support the entire organization located in El Segundo, Chantilly, and Colorado Springs;  Participate in strategic planning, resource management, and general administrative duties
Provide front-line leadership to the East Coast elements of SASS (about 50 people);  Ensure availability of resources such as office space, computers, access to corporate software and networks, and support services
Provide a direct interface to East Coast program offices at all levels of management; Support technical quality control, lead teams, and work resource issues with our customer-facing counterparts
Take an active interest in the technical activities of the staff and support their technical efforts through collaboration and identification of sponsors for promising ideas
Support corporate initiatives and committees as needed, (e.g., technical computing, Chantilly campus development) to ensure proper resources are available for subdivision staff

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required 

 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the principal director to establish an organizational vision and regular strategic planning materials and lead the organization in a seamless manner.
  • Twelve (12) years of experience (MTS years).
  • Technical skills needed to understand and contribute leadership in a variety of technical disciplines such as astrodynamics, navigation, geopositioning, modeling and simulation, optimization, and engineering software development.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of the NRO, AF, and other programs and an understanding of how Aerospace is structured to support them.
  • Ability to collaborate with a large, cross-country management team regarding technical tasking, people management, and resource allocation.
  • Experience guiding and mentoring managers and senior staff.
  • Proactive interest in addressing corporate resource problems to further the interests of SASS and the larger ETG organization.
  • Three (3) years of director-level management experience or equivalent.
  • TS/SCI Clearance with the ability to qualify for additional clearances as needed.

 

 

Preferred 

 

  • Significant management experience (5+ years at the director level)
  • Experience in customer-facing organization or equivalent.
