Responsibilities

The Space Innovative Directorate is seeking a highly talented and skilled Senior Project Engineer to design, build, and lead an engineering solutions function for the Space Rapid Capabilities Office.  The Senior Project Engineer will work collaboratively with highly skilled, selectively manned, government program office personnel to analyze and design solutions to the Nation’s most challenging space warfighting problems for rapid acquisition and fielding.

Key Functions

  • Lead government, FFRDC, and SETA teams in the analysis, design, and application of available technologies to solve space warfighting mission needs
  • Assemble and lead Aerospace teams in modeling, analysis, and concept design to investigate and test engineering solutions to space warfighting problems
  • Transition engineering designs to rapid prototyping or rapid acquisition programs
  • Extensive interaction with DoD and USAF organizations including AFSPC, SMC, AFRL, STP, and SpRCO.
  • Position is based at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
  • Frequent travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required

  • 12 or more years’ experience in space system hardware engineering, design, and acquisition
  • Broad familiarity with state-of-the-industry space system technologies
  • Strong familiarity with engineering and design expertise of other FFRDCs and University-Affiliated Research Centers
  • Strong familiarity with the Aerospace Concept Design Center capabilities and modeling, simulation, and analysis tools and application
  • BS degree in engineering, mathematics, or physical sciences is required or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Superior interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly dynamic Program Office environment with a mix of government, FFRDC, and SETA personnel
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance or current SSBI is required

 

Preferred

  • Experience in working highly classified space system programs
  • An advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science.
